Review:

When the book starts, you will feel sympathy and be enraged for the beloved movie character, Jack Frost and almost hate the ruthless  elf who is hell-bent on destroying him.

Soon though, the real story unfolds.

The elf is a story about, well, an elf . His name is Lucian. He is not the short and skinny thing as elves are usually portrayed as, he looks like a normal person and works at Santa’s factory located in a gloomy no-nonsense industrial area.

His life was turned upside down when Jack Frost unleashed a deadly virus on the elves.

This virus took Lucian’s parent’s life and most of the elves.

Now Lucian’s dreams are full of taking revenge. The thoughts of paying Frost for what he did, consume him.

When a oppurtunity presents itself, Lucian sets off to find Frost. The journey tests his strengths and motivation. He finds a mermaid, gets in a deathly chase by a pack of wolves and ultimately finds Frost.

But, will he accomplish what he planned?

Lucian discovers a sinister activity happening in Santa’s village. Someone is ruining Christmas and the children aren’t receiving the gifts. The elves are unaware and merrily continue making toys for the kids.

Who is the real villain? When Lucian discovers the truth and betrayal, he along with a group of fierce rogue elves, is determined to save Christmas and his brethren at all costs.

My opinion:

Thoroughly enjoyable book.

Loved the twist on the characters personalities which definitely deviate from the usual concepts.

The trek that Lucian takes through the frozen landscape was the most beautiful and engaging part of the book.

The story is action packed.

Sometimes the plot goes forward from other characters point of view, but Lucian’s point is the most prominent.

Even though Lucian is the hero, he is portrayed as pretty average though extremely brave elf. He fails, he falls, he doesn’t always win, but still he is an excellent character. The readers will find themselves rooting for him.

Rating:8 out of 10

Recommended for:

Although this book focuses on Santa and the elves and  Jack frost, it’s definitely not for children.

Adults and Young adults will enjoy this cool storyline.

I received this free ARC to provide an honest review.
