Twisted Sisters by Kimber Leigh Wheaton
(The Orion Circle #2)
Publication date: October 25th 2015
Genres: Urban Fantasy, Young Adult

It’s a child’s toy—what could go wrong?

While playing with a spirit board, two sorority sisters summon the vindictive spirits of three women brutally murdered by a psychopath. Join Logan, Kacie, and the rest of the Orion Circle as they delve into the disturbing events of the past to find the key to freeing the spirits.

But this isn’t any ordinary haunting.  These ghosts were banished before, and now they have returned more powerful than anyone could have imagined. Anger breeds hatred and hatred leads to darkness—these phantoms are on the verge of losing their last spark of humanity and becoming completely lost to the shadows.

Can Logan and Kacie convince the tortured souls to embrace the light and move on, or will the spirits succumb to the hypnotic pull of evil, leading to an eternity of torment and suffering?

Interview: Kimber Leigh Wheaton

I just read Twisted sisters and participated in the tour stop.
So I decided to ask Kimber some questions and she was kind enough to respond.
Note: I asked these questions before reading book 2.

Kimber: Thanks for having me on your blog and providing just fun questions

1. What was the inspiration behind Kassandra? Is she a mirror of your personality or a total opposite?
Kimber:Kassandra is not like me nor is she my polar opposite. I think Raven is the closest to me in personality.
The idea for the Orion Circle came before the characters. Kacie was the first I developed. When I was writing Tortured Souls, I was watching a lot of the reality ghost hunting shows. The idea of a physical medium who can communicate with spirits is nothing new, but since this is YA, I wanted to show what it’s like for a younger, inexperienced medium to grow up around doubters before finding her place in the scheme of things. Kacie also represents all teenagers who feel different and are looking for acceptance and for a place to belong.
2. Kacie is a well-developed character. Are her psychic abilities part of her being a witch or are they a gift inherited from her mother?
Kimber:Kacie’s abilities were inherited from her mother as were her witchy inclinations. In The Orion Circle series,  some of the characters are in an active coven which focuses on the Wiccan religion. Having psychic abilities does not make a witch nor are they necessary to be part of the coven. In my mind, Kacie opened up her witchy powers when she embraced her own psychic abilities. This will be explored a bit more in book three, Crimson Reflections, when Kacie’s mother returns for a visit.
3. Is there a special importance of the color fuschia or is it just a random color choice?
Kimber:No importance at all other than I have a wonderful cover artist. When she sent the first draft of the cover, I fell in love! I loved the pop of fuschia in the otherwise somber cover. The bright color represents Kacie’s light. The dress was originally written as blue in the book. Though I didn’t have to change it to match the cover, I had the opportunity to and took it.
4. What was the most challenging aspect of writing The Orion Circle?
Kimber:There were a lot of challenging aspects. I’d say writing so many active characters was the hardest. Subsequent books will focus on two characters with the others still in the periphery. It is very hard to juggle so many characters while keeping their personalities distinct.
5. The locations, specifically the haunted manor, are described in good detail. Did you visit an actual manor or is it just a result of your imagination?
Kimber:Many locations are taken from actual places in San Antonio, though I’ve changed the names of certain places and establishments. The haunted manor came straight from my imagination—probably in my subconscious from years of Scooby-Doo episodes. I have done my fair share of paranormal hunting, so I’ve been to some interesting places along the way. I pictured the haunted manor as an upscale, remodeled home, then threw in a few secrets one would expect of a cult leader.
6. How many books do you plan on writing about the Orion Circle?
Kimber:Lots! So far I have four more planned and plotted. Now I just need to find the time to write!
Tortured Souls
Twisted Sisters
Crimson Reflections – planned release 2016
Savage Hunger – planned release 2016
Shadow Wolves – planned release 2017
Hex Games – planned release 2017
Dates subject to change as life continues to get in the way.

Thank you Kimber for such awesome answers.

Idon’t usually take personality tests seriously.I believe everyone is unique and cannot be bound by certain definitions. We change everyday.

But when I came across this test while doing random web surfing ,I just gave it a try for fun.It was one of those 16 personality-type test.
I tried my best to answer honestly;sometimes I wanted to select the best looking option that I wish described me,but I tried my best to choose instinctively.

The result:

And when I read the description ,I was actually surprised to see that the description was almost accurate.I have never found a test that described everything about a personality with so much depth.

So I began searching for more articles and books. It is a vast and much discussed field. However, Iam not going to base my decisions solely on this test.Because we are ever changing. I believe our personalities keep on evolving with our experiences.

That being said ,If anyone knows about a good Myers Briggs test books ,kindly let me know in the comments.I would love to review some.

You can take the test here

Brilliance is a brilliant book

When you are a reviewer ,getting a gem of a book is a rare occurrence. The books are not bestsellers yet,but you read them anyways ,because you love to read. Then you stumble upon a book so awesome ,that you can’t put it down.
Brilliance by Marcus Sakey is that kind of book.I was hooked from the first page.
Brilliants are evolutionary enhanced, gifted people .And they are viewed as a threat, and the government has special teams to capture and interrogate the people deemed as brilliants.
Agent Cooper is a brilliant but he works for the government. He can read body language and patterns of a persons behavior and use this to  deduce their whereabouts about .Specially the brilliants.
The possibility that his daughter might be a briliant and then visiting the academy for abnorms,he is starting to see the other side of the story. All the while tracking John Smith,a terrorist abnorm.
The fear that he might never see his daughter once the government claims her,is the driving force behind his actions .
When he fails to prevent a terrorist threat from being realized,he decides to take matter in his own hands .Nick Cooper pretends to go rogue to get closer to his enemies. But the tables turn on him.The hunter becomes the hunted. And some horrible truths see the light.
Is he really working for the good.Who is the real evil? The real face behind the war between normals and abnorms?
The shocking revelations, unlikely alliances and with a mission to make the world a better place for his children,Nick has to make some hard decisions.

Absolutely loved the book. And even though its a long book, you will enjoy it immensely.
The pace of the story, character development and action are very well crafted.
Its a terrorist versus government agent book ,but the real twist is you don’t know who is the terrorist and who is the hero.
The strategies are clever.Though some of the characters and scenes seem pointless, but could be of use in the later books.
The workings of Nick Coopers mind ,of how he maps and patterns the body language is quite fascinating to see.
If you love a good and action packed thriller, this book is for you.
